Rob Hahn is one of my favorite people in the RE.net community because when he has a thought it usually leads to a great discussion among agents. Whether you agree with him on a subject or not, you always respect the thought that went into formulating his decision. This is one subject in which I completely agree with him.
We discuss the use of social media by agents and what they are doing right and wrong. Hahn brings up a great point about the 7-year cycle of our clients, and what are we doing with social media to foster that relationship over the complete cycle?

I agree with Rob that social media is more about building relationships than marketing. I tend to be one of those agents who does nuture relationships both online and off. I do share a few statistics once in a while (mainly just on my work accounts). I offer real estate help when I see it being requested. But I *primarily* just keep in touch with people’s daily lives. I do care and I tend to show it. And I absolutely know, that I have many “FRIENDS,” (not just clients) who have already told me, that when job situations, the market, etc changes, they WILL be using me. Because I do care and share on a regular basis, but I am a professional too.
Great points Lori, as a matter of fact would love to get you on the show for a video interview to talk about what you are doing to build your business.
I had to smile at this. I know a couple of agents who go through and delete tweets if they seem unprofessional. These people also teach other agents “the rules” sadly there are too many rules and ideas that are just wrong. Most agents have been unable to make the transition from using the internet for marketing to using it to build relationships.
